Online AssessmentsTo take the assessments, you must have your own workbook with an access code (printed on the back cover). Scroll down to our 'frequently asked questions' for more information on book codes.
Frequently asked questions:Why take the assessment? Those who successfully pass the assessment receive a Certificate of Knowledge accredited by the College of Pharmacy Practice and a 'Skills for Care Progress Log for Medication'. This progress log is the document that the Care Quality Commission ask for as evidence you have received medication training. These documents are accepted by all care providers as evidence that you have received accredited medication training by an approved provider. How much does it cost?Assessment service costs £8.81 (£7.50 plus VAT) for 6 months access (i.e. you can take the assessment any time within 6 months of when you register) What happens if I fail the assessment? You can re-take the assessment as many times as you like (as with any exam) within the 6 month period from the date you register. Once I pass the assessment can I administer medication? No. Studying the workbooks and passing the assessment provides you with the KNOWLEDGE to administer medication, not the SKILLS (e.g using oral syringes, administering eye drops, creams and inhalers etc.). You will need to learn these skills AND have your competence assessed by your employer before you can administer medication. Our FOUNDATION courses can teach you these practical skills - click here to find out more. We also offer a specific workshop that trains seniors and managers how to assess competency - click here to find out more. Can I borrow my friend's book and take the assessment? No! (and don't be so cheeky!) The whole idea of having your own workbook is that you can refer back to it when you need to. This is why we ask you to enter the access code on the back. This code prevents people buying just one book and obtaining certificates for lots of different people. Book codes can only be registered and used once (and we do check!). I can't find an access code on my workbook! The access code (also called 'Unique Learner Number') will be printed on a sticker on the back cover of your book (bottom right hand corner). If you have one of our early books (before we started issuing codes) then email us so that we can establish you have your own workbook, we can then issue you with an access code. |
